Beethoven wrote 32 sonatas for piano. Volume 1, edited by Stewart Gordon, includes the first eight sonatas (Op. 2, Nos. ane-three; Op. vii; Op. 10, Nos. 1-three; and Op. 13 [Pathetique]), written between 1795 and 1799.   Everything nigh this edition is excellent. The editorial notes are extensive, educational and compare various editions, including Beethoven'southward autographs and start editions, also equally practical performance considerations. This is a very well-researched serial and I am looking forward to Volumes 3 and 4. The attention to detail...

  in this edition is extraordinary and I ofttimes experience afterward reading some of Mr. Gordon's performance suggestions that I am getting a individual lesson with this teacher. As if that wasn't enough incentive to purchase this book, the print size is large making it very comfortable to read.
